Cooking Zongzi for Spring Festival

Snuggling together,
The firewood is burning cheerfully
To cook Zongba;
The elders' murmurs
All turn into tongues of flames;
Hot festival steam starts rising from the cauldron merrily.
The cooked Zongzi begin to spill out their aroma, making the new year's eve drunk completely;
Having climbed over the mountain, Spring quickens its steps.
The fire keeps flashing,
Taking photos of the family sitting around
For the new year's souvenir and memory.

逢年过节，人们互拜祝福。很多人喜欢重复发一些网上下载的、或复制朋友的“拜年话”，似欠个人特色。不才把迎鼠年、过大年的拜年话写成七律汉诗，并译成韵体英诗，给大家拜年了！。小诗贺新年，语短情意重！
庆贺新春过大年，语拙却欲诵佳音：
青山展示千年画，绿水流弹万古琴；
鼠至猪辞祥兆起，功成运至瑞星临！
一年肇始祈君乐，更祝前程胜万金！
Spring Festival Greeting for the Year of Mouse（With a Preface）

When a festival is coming, people greet each other. Many like to send their greetings by copying those from internet or what they received, seemingly without personal features. I now write a greeting in Chinese, of qilyu style, and put it into rhymed English lines to greet my friends, ushering in the New Year of Mouse. Several lines as a greeting may be cheap, but conveys from my heart the feelings deep!
Hailing Spring Fest, the lunar New Year’s Day,
Though clumsy, I’m eager to chant a merry lay①:
Behold! Lasting paintings showed by green hills;
Listen! An eternal music by ripples in clear rills!
The year of mouse to replace that of pig is an omen,
The lucky star②insures you success every moment.
The New Year begins, be happiness in your hold;
Be your future a bright one, brighter than gold!

吴伟雄，英语译审。中国译协四、五届理事，获“资深翻译家”证书。多年奉职地市外事工作；曾任北京理工大学珠海学院教授。发核心刊物翻译论文16篇，出版编著5本。2005年在“桂林山水甲天下”名句国际译文征集中摘冠。
Mr. WU Weixiong is a Prof. of Translation. He was member of the 4th and 5th Councils of the Translators Association of China, awarded the TAC Certificate of Senior Translator. He worked in Foreign Affairs Offices in two municipalities, and then a professor in Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai. He has published 16 papers in core journals in China, and 5 books, on translation. He won the first place in the international CALL FOR TRANSLATIONS OF THE NOTED SAYING “桂林山水甲天下”in 2005.
